Klarita Gërxhani is Full Professor in Socio-Economics at the School of Business and Economics (SBE), Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU), and head of the Ethics, Governance and Society department. Previously, she was Professor at the European University Institute's Department of Political and Social Sciences.

- M.Phil & Ph.D. in Economics (Tinbergen Institute/University of Amsterdam, 2002)
Her interdisciplinary research combines field surveys with laboratory-, field-, and survey-experiments to examine:
- Gender inequality in academic hiring and recognition
- Social capital formation and informal economies
- Institutional drivers of tax evasion behavior
- Competitive social status dynamics
- Experimental sociology methodology
Recent publications in Journal of Political Economy, American Journal of Sociology, and European Sociological Review reflect these themes. Awards include:
- Aspasia grant (2011)
- VENI grant (2005)
- Wicksell Prize (2003)
Active in academic leadership as KNAW member and conference keynote speaker, she focuses on experimental approaches to labor market dynamics and societal norms.
