Dr Kitty Lymperopoulou is a Senior Quantitative Research Fellow at the University of Plymouth’s Peninsula Medical School (Faculty of Health), concurrently affiliated with the School of Society and Culture. Her work focuses on social and spatial inequalities related to ethnicity, migration, and the criminal justice system. She holds an ADR UK fellowship examining cumulative disadvantage in the Criminal Justice System and is part of a team developing a coastal communities classification. Previously, she researched Gypsy and Traveller experiences of crime and justice, completing ESRC fellowships at Manchester Metropolitan University and the University of Manchester.
Education: PhD in Social Statistics (University of Manchester, 2015). Prior roles include postdoctoral positions and lecturing at Manchester Metropolitan and the University of Manchester.
Research interests center on ethnic and spatial inequalities, criminal justice disparities, migration impacts, and urban socio-spatial dynamics. Her work bridges quantitative analysis with policy-relevant insights, contributing to areas like sentencing equity, community integration, and deprivation patterns. Recent projects include examining fraud victim landscapes and the interplay between immigration, language, and community trust.
Her research portfolio spans over two decades, addressing topics like local ethnic inequalities, regional deprivation trends, and the dynamics of diversity. Collaborations include the EQUAL team and ESRC-funded initiatives, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to systemic inequality challenges.
