Kishore Kuchibhotla is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychological & Brain Sciences at Johns Hopkins University, within the Krieger School of Arts & Sciences. His research focuses on neural circuits underlying learning, attention, and decision-making, particularly in auditory systems. He leads the Kuchibhotla Lab, which explores sensorimotor learning and contextual influences on neural activity.
Education:
- Bachelor's degrees in Physics and Brain/Cognitive Science from MIT
- PhD in Biophysics from Harvard University
- Postdoctoral research at NYU's Skirball Institute
Research Interests:
- Neural circuit dysfunction and repair
- Computational modeling of sensory processing
- Cholinergic neuromodulation in learning
Scientific Contributions:
- NSF CAREER Award (2022) for cholinergic neuromodulation research
- Pioneering studies on latent knowledge in neural circuits
Advising & Lab Activities:
- Currently mentoring students and postdocs in systems neuroscience
- Lab focuses on bat auditory systems and rodent learning paradigms
Additional Background: Kishore has experience in policy analysis and consulting, advising governmental agencies on science-related policy. This interdisciplinary perspective informs his research on neural systems' adaptability to external contexts.
