Kirsten Morris is Professor of Applied Mathematics at the University of Waterloo and member of the Waterloo Institute for Computer Research. Her research focuses on control and estimation of systems modeled by partial differential equations, optimal sensor/actuator placement, and smart materials.
Leadership: Served as Vice-President of IEEE Control Systems Society (2013-2016) and Chair of SIAM Control & Systems Theory Group. Current editor for Mathematics of Control, Signals and Systems and SIAM book series.
Education & Honors: Ph.D. from University of Waterloo. Fellow of IEEE, SIAM, and IFAC. Recipient of IEEE Control Systems Society Distinguished Member Award and multiple Outstanding Performance Awards from University of Waterloo.
Research Impact: Developed novel methods for actuator placement in aerospace and automotive applications, with industry collaborations including MDA Corp and Porsche Engineering.
