Anders Lindquist

Anders Lindquist is a Professor and Director of the Strategic Research Center for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (CIAM) at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Stockholm, Sweden. He also holds the title of Affiliate Professor at Washington University, St Louis, since 1989. His extensive career includes a full Professorship at the University of Kentucky (1980–1983) and visiting positions at institutions such as the University of Florida, Brown University, Arizona State University, and the University of California, Berkeley.

Research Interests: Lindquist's work focuses on systems and control theory, particularly on moment problems and their applications in engineering and mathematics. His research explores the trigonometric moment problem, rational covariance extension, and analytic interpolation, addressing nonlinear optimization in stochastic processes and spectral estimation. He emphasizes parameterization of solutions through convex optimization criteria to ensure smooth dependence on problem data, with applications in robust control, signal processing, and stochastic realization theory.

He chaired the steering committee for the Mathematical Theory of Networks and Systems (MTNS) symposia (1985–1987) and was the scientific leader at Institut Mittag-Leffler (2003). He currently directs CIAM at KTH, advancing interdisciplinary research in applied mathematics.
