Kirsten Cook is a Professor of Accounting and Frank M. Burke Chair in Taxation at Texas Tech University's Rawls College of Business, directing the Lyons School of Accounting. With a PhD from Texas A&M University and prior experience at the University of Arizona, she specializes in taxation, earnings management, and corporate social responsibility. Her teaching focuses on tax accounting at undergraduate and graduate levels, and she mentors doctoral students in tax research. Cook holds editorial roles in Issues in Accounting Education and Advances in Accounting, and participates in academic leadership programs like the Texas Academic Leadership Academy.
Her education includes a BBA and MAcc from Baylor University, and AA from McLennan Community College. Awards include the 2021 Jerry S. Rawls Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award and 2017 Excellence in Teaching Award. Research explores tax planning, CSR impacts on firm performance, and ethical leadership. She serves on the American Accounting Association leadership and editorial boards for key journals.
