John J Masselli, Ph.D., CPA, is the Haskell Taylor Professor of Taxation at the Rawls College of Business, Texas Tech University. He serves as director of the Master of Science in Accounting program and leads a study abroad program in Prague, Czech Republic. Prior to his academic career, he worked at Deloitte and ITT-Hartford. He maintains a CPA practice specializing in individual and conduit entity taxation with over 30 years of experience.
- Education: PhD in Accounting (Georgia State University), MS in Taxation (University of Hartford), BS in Accounting (Fairfield University)
His research focuses on behavioral taxation, archival taxation, and nonprofit organizations. He has published in journals like Contemporary Accounting Research and the Journal of the American Taxation Association. He serves on the editorial board of the ATA Journal of Legal Tax Research.
Recipient of the Chancellor's Council Teaching Excellence Award, the highest teaching honor at Texas Tech. Also serves on Ernst & Young's national training faculty.
Teaching responsibilities include graduate tax courses for MSA/MPFP/EMBA students and introductory taxation for undergraduates.
