Kirk Moss

Kirk Moss, Ph.D., serves as Vice Provost for Faculty & Academic Programs and Professor of Music at the University of Northwestern - St. Paul, overseeing faculty, academic offerings, staffing, the Registrar’s Office, and financial matters for Traditional, Adult Undergraduate, and Graduate programming.

His educational credentials include:

• Ph.D. in Music Education (conducting emphasis) from University of Florida
• M.M. with cognate in string pedagogy from University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music
• B.Mus. with high distinction from University of Michigan

Dr. Moss specializes in music education and string pedagogy, with significant contributions to orchestra curriculum development. His expertise manifests through co-authoring the Sound Innovations series method books and numerous string orchestra arrangements for major publishers. His twelve-year K-12 orchestra teaching career produced ensembles recognized at state, national, and international levels, demonstrating practical application of his research.
