Kirk Melnikoff is a Professor of English at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC), affiliated with the College of Humanities & Earth and Social Sciences (CHESS). His research focuses on Elizabethan literature, the history of the book, performance history, and Shakespeare on film. He holds a Ph.D. and M.A. from Boston University and a B.A. from Lehigh University.
Dr. Melnikoff’s work explores early modern publishing networks, gender in literary production, and the intersection of theater and print culture. His recent publications include contributions to the Oxford Handbook to the History of the Book in Early Modern England and Women’s Labour and the History of the Book in Early Modern England. Current projects include editing Selimus for the Queen’s Men Editions and contributing to the Christopher Marlowe Collected Works.
His teaching spans courses on Shakespeare, early English drama, and literary approaches, reflecting his expertise in Renaissance literature and performance studies. He maintains an active research agenda with presentations at international conferences such as the USTC Gender and the Book Trades Conference in St. Andrews, Scotland.
