معرفی
Kin Pan Chung is an Assistant Professor at the Laboratory of Plant Physiology, Wageningen University & Research. He leads the Cytoplasmic Genetics Group, focusing on cytoplasmic genome inheritance and molecular mechanisms in plants. His work is supported by an ERC Starting Grant (2025–2029) exploring plastid and mitochondrial inheritance.
Education: PhD (2017) from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, followed by postdoctoral research (2018–2024) at the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Plant Physiology, Germany.
Research interests include cytoplasmic genetics, mitochondrial/plastid genome stability, autophagy, and protein secretion pathways. Key projects address how environmental and genetic factors control organelle inheritance, with implications for plant resilience and cellular biology.
Teaching roles include supervising MSc theses and research practices in Plant Physiology, alongside courses like 'Fundamental Aspects of Plant Resilience' and 'Frontiers in Molecular Life Sciences'.
His group actively seeks contributors for projects on cytoplasmic inheritance mechanisms; visit www.cytoplasmic-genetics.org for open positions.
