Kimberly Zieschang

Kimberly Zieschang is an Adjunct Professor at the School of Economics, University of Queensland. She holds a PhD in Economics from the University of North Carolina and a BS in Economics (Summa Cum Laude) from the University of Texas. Her career includes executive roles at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), including Division Chief in the Statistics Department and Advisor to the Immediate Office, focusing on statistical policy and research related to financial services, national accounts, and price indices. Previously, she served as Associate Commissioner at the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), managing labor compensation statistics programs. Her research interests center on economic statistics, price index methodology, national accounting frameworks, and productivity measurement in banking and financial sectors. Key contributions include advancing purchasing power parity analysis, financial services output measurement, and international price index standards. She authored influential works such as the Export and Import Price Index Manual and contributed to global statistical frameworks like the System of National Accounts. Her publications span over four decades, addressing topics like interarea comparisons, inflation targeting, and transition economies' statistical challenges.

Dr. Zieshang has advised multiple countries on statistical methodologies and chaired international working groups, including the Inter-Secretariat Working Group on National Accounts. Her work emphasizes integrating theoretical economic principles with practical statistical measurement to inform policy decisions. She remains active in editorial roles, including the Review of Income and Wealth, and has delivered training globally on price statistics and productivity analysis.
