Kimberly Gross is an Associate Professor at the School of Media and Public Affairs, George Washington University, since 2001. She specializes in media framing, public opinion, and the psychological processes underlying framing effects. Her research explores topics like anti-Muslim stereotypes, the War on Terror, and media portrayal of race in elections. She has collaborated with scholars such as Paul Brewer (University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee) and John Sides (GWU), and co-authored studies with students from her school.
Education: Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Michigan (2001), focusing on media coverage of the 1992 Los Angeles riots and public opinion. She also held a fellowship at the Joan Shorenstein Center on the Press, Politics, and Public Policy (2006).
Grants: Secured funding from the National Science Foundation and Russell Sage Foundation for a panel survey on trust in government post-9/11. Current projects include examining emotional responses to media framing and racial dynamics in political communication.
