Dr. Kimberly Creamer is the Dean of Education and Social/Behavioral Sciences, as well as an Associate Professor of Teacher Education at Catawba College. She holds a Ph.D. in Education (Literacy Emphasis) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, an M.A.Ed. from the College of William and Mary, and a B.A. in Education from the same institution. Her career includes roles as a classroom teacher, educational consultant, and visiting professor at Wake Forest University and Greensboro College.
Her research focuses on integrating curriculum with literacy instruction, historical trends in literacy education, supporting twice-exceptional students, and close reading strategies. She has published in journals like Reading Psychology and contributed a chapter to Best Practices in Literacy Instruction. Dr. Creamer also directs Catawba's Academy for Teaching, emphasizing teacher preparation and educational innovation.
Her professional contributions include presentations at national conferences such as the National Reading Conference and the North Carolina Association of Elementary Educators. She advocates for equitable literacy practices and adapts historical educational insights to modern classroom challenges.
