Kim Ward is a Lecturer in Human Geography at the School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences, part of the Faculty of Science and Engineering at the University of Plymouth. He serves as Senior Tutor for Geography and leads/teaches modules including Nature and Society, Environmental Knowledge, and Undergraduate Dissertations in Geography. His research focuses on rewilding, glacial contaminants, epidemiology, and socio-environmental challenges. He supervises PhD students studying topics like rewilding in urban Britain and glacial pollutant dynamics.
Research interests include the biopolitics of rewilding, disease mapping, and the intersection of environmental science with urban and rural policy. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to climate action and sustainable cities. Kim has advised three PhD students to completion and currently supervises two funded projects. His teaching spans undergraduate and postgraduate programs in geography and environmental management.
Publications span environmental science, epidemiology, and political ecology, with recent emphasis on glacial contaminants and rewilding debates. His research engages interdisciplinary approaches to address socio-environmental challenges, blending fieldwork with theoretical frameworks.
