Kim Hawkins serves as Professor of Law, Stephen J. Ellmann Dean of Clinical and Experiential Learning, and Co-Director of the Housing Justice Leadership Institute at New York Law School. She joined NYLS in 2011 to teach Legal Practice and has held leadership roles in advancing experiential legal education.

Her work focuses on housing rights, social justice, and interdisciplinary legal advocacy, with a career spanning direct legal services to marginalized communities, including homeless LGBTQ+ youth and low-income individuals. She previously taught at NYU’s Lawyering Program (1998–2002) and worked as a staff attorney at The Legal Aid Society and The Door’s Legal Services Center. She chaired the Association of the Bar of the City of New York’s Committee on Sex and Law and served on its Social Welfare Committee.
