Kim Eichorst

Kim Eichorst serves as a Research Lecturer III in the Biology Department at the University of New Mexico, where she also directs the Bosque Ecosystem Monitoring Program (BEMP). Her roles encompass research, teaching, and student support, with her office located in CAST 184. She actively contributes to the department's mission through ecological research and educational initiatives.

Her research focuses on ecosystem monitoring and conservation biology within the Rio Grande bosque ecosystem. Through BEMP, she integrates long-term field studies with community engagement, addressing biodiversity conservation, habitat restoration, and urbanization impacts on riparian environments. Key methodologies include vegetation surveys, wildlife tracking, and hydrological monitoring.

As BEMP Science Director, she leads a collaborative initiative involving university students, K-12 participants, and community volunteers in hands-on data collection and habitat restoration projects. This program bridges scientific research with public education, providing critical training for future environmental scientists while generating actionable ecological data for regional conservation efforts.
