Dr. Kim Curby is Associate Professor in Macquarie University's School of Psychological Sciences, specializing in visual cognition and perceptual expertise. With PhD from Vanderbilt University and postdoctoral training at Yale, she directs research on face perception, visual learning, and expertise development through the Perception in Action Research Centre (PARC).
Research Focus: Holistic face processing mechanisms; impact of anxiety on visual perception; expertise in medical/security domains (e.g., pathologists, lifeguards); emotion-attention interactions; and applied training solutions.
Funding: Holds multiple ARC grants including a Discovery Project on attentional Gestalt framework and Linkage Project on VR training for lifeguards.
Publications: Recent work examines other-race effect modulation, emotion-color interactions, VR training efficacy, and individual differences in perceptual tasks.
Teaching: Cognition and perception courses across undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
