Dr. Jinsook Kim is an Associate Professor in the Department of Communication, Graphic Design & Multimedia at Georgian Court University's School of Business & Digital Media. With over 15 years of teaching experience, she specializes in visual communication research and design pedagogy across multiple academic institutions.
- PhD in Design from IIT Institute of Design (Chicago, IL)
- MDes in Human-Centered Communication Design from IIT Institute of Design
- MFA in Typographic Design from Seoul Women’s University
- BFA in Industrial Design from Duksung Women’s University
Her research explores temporal dimensions of visual perception, focusing on motion design principles, Gestalt theory applications in digital interfaces, and cognitive aspects of design representation. Key areas include:
- Visual attention mechanisms in dynamic media
- Motion symmetry and temporal Gestalt principles
- Cognitive modeling for interface design
- Typographic legibility in time-based contexts
- Perceptual simplicity in complex design systems
Through her publications spanning 2013–2023, Dr. Kim has systematically examined how motion perception principles apply to digital design, progressing from foundational studies on typographic motion (2013) to advanced temporal Gestalt applications in screen narratives (2023). Her work bridges traditional design theory with emerging interactive media challenges.
