Kim Beauchesne is an Associate Professor of Spanish at UBC specializing in Latin American colonial literature, postcolonial theory, and transpacific cultural studies. Her research examines colonial encounters, utopian discourses, and human rights narratives across historical and contemporary contexts. She directs projects bridging transatlantic and transpacific studies, including SSHRC-funded work on the Keichō Embassy's cultural representations.
Publications include monographs on marginality in Latin American chronicles and edited volumes on utopian thought. She received the Killam Award for Excellence in Mentoring and multiple SSHRC grants. Her teaching spans colonial literature, Hispanic culture, and transcultural studies, with courses exploring foundational narratives and postcolonial reinterpretations.
