Kierra Chrisco is a NAS Mellon Impact Fellow at the University of Oklahoma, affiliated with the Dodge Family College of Arts and Sciences under the Native American Studies department. As a first-generation student and a proud Kiowa Apache, she contributes to the OU chapter Gamma Delta Pi and represents her Apache Tribe of Oklahoma through academic achievements.
- Education: BA in Psychology (in progress) with minors in Native American Studies, Spanish, and Human Relations
Her research focuses on Indigenous language preservation, particularly Nahuatl in southern Mexico, and she combines this with interests in Psychology and Social Work. She emphasizes community engagement and cultural heritage in her work.
This focus is reflected in her 2022 UReCA Summer Fellowship research project, which addresses language revitalization, ethnography, and oral traditions. Her work aligns with broader themes in Linguistics and Indigenous Studies.
