Professor Kieran Tranter is Chair of Law, Technology, and Future at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), School of Law. He leads the Law, Technology and Humans journal and directs the Human Technology Law Centre. His research explores law’s intersection with technology, focusing on cultural narratives and future-oriented legal frameworks. Prior roles include Associate Professor at Griffith University and HDR Convenor. Key areas include law and technology in the Global South, First Nations justice, and automation’s societal impact.

Research Interests
Tranter’s work bridges law with cultural studies, science fiction, and socio-technical systems. He examines how technology shapes legal frameworks and vice versa, with a focus on:

Advising & Grants

Co-leads the Technologies of Justice stream at QUT’s Centre for Justice and coordinates the Datafication and Automation research stream.
