Prof. Kieran McCartan is Professor of Criminology & Health at UWE Bristol, leading research on sexual violence prevention and public health approaches to harm reduction. His work examines community-based risk management, trauma-informed practices, and sibling sexual abuse interventions.
He directs the Sexual Violence Research Network and advises the Council of Europe on offender management policy. Current projects include Prevent to Protect (Horizon 2020), evaluation of trauma-informed training for police, and campus sexual violence prevention initiatives.

He supervises PhD students and leads international collaborations on sexual violence prevention strategies.
