Kieran Dalton

Dr. Kieran Dalton serves as Senior Lecturer in Clinical Pharmacy at University College Cork's School of Pharmacy, where he has held academic positions since 2019 following completion of his PhD. His primary academic affiliation is with the College of Medicine & Health at University College Cork, with cross-departmental collaborations extending to the Department of General Practice.

His educational background includes a BPharm (2013) and PhD (2019) from University College Cork, MPharm (2014) from Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, and Postgraduate Diploma in Cardiology (2016) from Trinity College. He holds a Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (2021) from UCC.

Research focuses on medication optimization in older adults, particularly examining potentially inappropriate prescribing cascades, deprescribing interventions, and pharmacist role expansion. Current projects include REFORM (medication optimization in older persons) and MOP-UP (pharmacist prescribing). His work demonstrates strong international collaboration through networks like US Deprescribing Research Network and European SENATOR project.

Award highlights include the 2024 Practice-Based Research Award and multiple Best Poster recognitions. His research output shows consistent growth with significant 2024-2025 publications addressing prescribing cascades, deprescribing economics, and gender impacts in geriatric pharmacotherapy.
