Kiemute Oyibo is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at York University's Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, affiliated with the Interactive Systems Research Group. He joined York in 2022 after completing a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Waterloo and Carnegie Mellon University. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Saskatchewan (2020).
His research focuses on Persuasive Design, Personalization, User Modeling, and Digital Health, with an emphasis on using machine learning to bridge health inequities across income levels globally. Notable achievements include a Gold Award at HCI International 2019 for a culture-tailored fitness app and a Banting Fellowship nomination (2022).
Recent work explores persuasive systems for contact tracing apps, algorithmic fairness in UI design, and mnemonics serious games. His teaching includes Human-Computer Interaction, Interface Design, and Human Factors in Design.
