Khursheed A. Wani

Khursheed A. Wani is an Instructor at the UMass Chan Medical School within the T.H. Chan School of Medicine, Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases. He holds a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Dr. Wani's research focuses on innate immunity and host-pathogen interactions using Caenorhabditis elegans as a model organism. His work explores transcriptional regulation during oxidative stress, neuro-immune crosstalk, and lysosomal signaling pathways in intestinal immunity.

His recent publications (2025-2024) highlight trends in immunology, cell biology, and genetics, particularly the role of TIR proteins and nuclear receptors in pathogen detection. Collaborators include Read Pukkila-Worley, Javier Irazoqui, and Heidi Tissenbaum.

He contributes to the Pukkila-Worley Lab, advancing understanding of C. elegans immunity and its evolutionary implications.
