Dr. Kevin Wood serves as an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Education at the University of Lethbridge, residing on traditional Siksikaitsitapii territory where he was given the Blackfoot name Miistsis: Spirit of Growth in Wood. With 25 years of K-12 public education experience including 15 years as a school principal and vice principal, he brings deep practical insight to his academic role.

Research Focus: Kevin's work centers on learning leadership—investigating how leaders cultivate conditions for openness, growth, and development within educational communities. His research critically examines hegemonic mindsets that constrain educational possibilities while utilizing metaphor and natural wisdom to reframe leadership paradigms. Key questions explore the nature of leaders who foster joyful learning environments and conceptualize learning as foundational to leadership itself.
Teaching Practice: He instructs second-year Educational Leadership graduate students on learning leadership concepts, leads first-year teacher education students through the "Being a Teacher" workshop, and mentors drama education students during PSII placements. His pedagogy emphasizes the mindsets, processes, and cultural conditions that nurture authentic learning experiences while supporting students' journey toward becoming lifelong learners.
