Kevin M. Hunt

Dr. Kevin M. Hunt is the Sharp Professor of Human Dimensions in the College of Forest Resources at Mississippi State University (MSU). His research focuses on the human dimensions of wildlife and fisheries management, including policy, law enforcement, and recreational aspects. Hunt holds a Ph.D. from Texas A&M University in Wildlife and Fisheries Science, an M.S. from the same institution, and a B.S. in Forestry & Wildlife from Virginia Tech.

His research interests span fish and wildlife policy, law enforcement strategies, and the socio-economic dimensions of conservation. Notable work includes studies on angler behavior, pollinator conservation, and economic valuation of recreational activities. Hunt is affiliated with the Human Dimensions and Conservation Law Enforcement Laboratory at MSU’s Forest and Wildlife Research Center.

Hunt has received numerous awards for service and advising, including the NACADA Irvin A. Jefcoat Advising Award and the MSU Faculty Diversity Award. He advises graduate students like Basant Pant and collaborates on projects funded through grants related to wildlife management and policy analysis. His work bridges ecological science with human behavior, emphasizing practical applications for conservation and resource management.
