Kevin M Brennan is an Associate Professor and Program Chair of the Life Sciences and Pre-Medical Illustration Program at Ferris State University. A Certified Medical Illustrator with 15+ years of experience, he specializes in biomedical visualization, animation, and educational technology. His work bridges clinical practice and academic research, focusing on molecular animation, surgical planning in VR, and interactive patient education materials.
Before his current role, Brennan served as an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago’s Biomedical Visualization Program. He has contributed to award-winning projects at Argosy Publishing | Visible Body, including international animations and applications. His research spans diverse topics like digital fossil reconstruction and motion-tracking stroke rehabilitation.
Brennan actively contributes to the field through editorial roles at the Journal of Biocommunication and workshops at the Association of Medical Illustrators’ Conference. He mentors in technical direction for special effects (FX TD) and continues creating animations for pharmaceutical, legal, and educational clients.
His academic credentials include an M.S. and prior research in invertebrate zoology, radiation effects on cardiac development, and rotifer morphology via SEM. His articles (2017-2019) emphasize innovative visualization techniques in nanomedicine, glycolysis education, and neurocysticercosis modeling.
