Kevin Lane is an Assistant Professor of Environmental Health at Boston University's School of Public Health and affiliated faculty at the Institute for Global Sustainability (IGS). His research focuses on air pollution, urbanization impacts, climate change health effects, and built environment influences using advanced spatial and big data methodologies. He holds a PhD from Boston University, an MA from Tufts University, and a BS from Saint Michael’s College.
Key research areas include aviation emissions' health impacts (ASCENT Project), urban heat island effects (Yale postdoc), and traffic-related pollution studies (Community Assessment of Freeway Exposure). He integrates GIS, remote sensing, and machine learning to develop novel exposure assessment tools. Current grants include NIEHS health disparities research and FAA-funded aviation emission studies.
Recent work explores synergistic air pollution-heat mortality linkages in India, social vulnerability-biological aging associations, and equity-focused park access analysis. His studies often span international collaborations in India, South Korea, and the U.S., addressing environmental justice through spatial epidemiology.
