Kevin Hinkle is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering at the University of Dayton, part of the School of Engineering. He holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago (2016), an M.S. from Ohio State University (2011), and a B.S. from the University of Dayton (2009). His research focuses on molecular modeling, interfacial phenomena, and computational materials science, with applications in nanotechnology, membrane systems, and energy storage. He has received notable awards including the AFOSR Summer Faculty Fellowship (2020) and the Alexander von Humboldt Postdoctoral Fellowship (2018).
Dr. Hinkle teaches courses such as Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics and Process Dynamics and Control. His work bridges computational methods with experimental challenges in separations, transport processes, and material design. Recent projects include optimizing porous membranes for desalination, studying ion transport in zeolite systems, and developing predictive models for solubility and material behavior via molecular dynamics simulations.
