Kevin Everson

Kevin Everson is a Commonwealth Professor of Art and Director of the Studio Art Program at the University of Virginia. Born and raised in Mansfield, Ohio, he earned his BFA from the University of Akron and MFA from Ohio University (1990). His filmography includes over 120 short films and eight feature-length works.

Everson’s films explore themes of labor, race, and environmental history through experimental and documentary lenses. His work has been showcased at prestigious venues like the Sundance Film Festival, Berlin Film Festival, and The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). Awards include a Guggenheim Fellowship, Alpert Award, and American Academy in Rome Prize. His DVD box set Broad Daylight and Other Times is distributed by Video Data Bank, with exhibitions at the Whitney Museum, Whitechapel Gallery, and Centre Pompidou.
