Kevin Acott is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Brunel University London's Department of Life Sciences within the College of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences. With over three decades of experience in mental health and social care, he combines clinical expertise with education, coaching, and management roles across universities, the NHS, and independent sectors.
His research focuses on the intersections of self-harm, trauma, mindfulness, and the arts, alongside broader themes like social class in healthcare and the Three-Phase Conversational Model of Communication (TPCM). He has worked extensively with Grenfell Tower fire survivors and developed national trauma training programs for Victim Support.
Additional roles include Specialist Advisor in Mental Health and Inspector for the Care Quality Commission, as well as membership in Medact. His work emphasizes empathy, pandemic impacts on mental health, and links between politics, philosophy, and healthcare ideologies.
