András Kertész is a Full Professor of Linguistics at the University of Debrecen's Faculty of Arts, Hungary, and serves as Chairman of the Section of Linguistics and Literary Scholarship at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences since 2014. He has held continuous leadership roles including Head of the Research Group for Theoretical Linguistics (Hungarian Academy of Sciences, 2003-present), Director of the Research Centre for Linguistics and Philosophy (University of Debrecen, 2006-present), and Co-chairman of the University's Scientific Council (2013-present).
His research focuses on the philosophical foundations of linguistic theory, with expertise spanning syntax, semantics, and pragmatics. He investigates core theoretical problems in how language structures convey meaning and function within human cognition, contributing significantly to methodological frameworks in theoretical linguistics.
Professor Kertész's distinguished career is marked by exceptional recognition:

His institutional leadership extends to chairing the University's Distinguished Research Field in Human Sciences since 2010 and previously serving as President of the Hungarian Association for German Studies (2003-2006).
