Professor Kerstin Thompson is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Architecture at Monash University. She is a leading Australian architect and founder of Kerstin Thompson Architects (KTA), established in 1994. Her work focuses on integrating architecture with site, environment, and cultural context, emphasizing sustainability and community engagement. Thompson’s projects, such as the Bundanon Art Museum and The Stables at the University of Melbourne, have garnered international acclaim, including RIBA and World Architecture Festival recognitions. She has contributed to the Venice Biennale and serves as a contributing editor for Architecture Australia. Her research explores adaptive reuse, heritage preservation, and the relationship between architecture and landscape.
Education and Awards: Thompson’s academic contributions include teaching and research at Monash University. She has received over 15 prestigious awards, including the Sulman Medal and RIBA International Award. Her firm’s designs are featured in the Phaidon Atlases of Architecture and the International Archive of Women in Architecture.
