Kerry L. Tucker, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the University of New England's College of Osteopathic Medicine. Her research focuses on understanding the role of primary cilia in central nervous system (CNS) development and neurodevelopmental disorders. She holds affiliations at the Pickus Center for Biomedical Research on the Biddeford Campus.
Dr. Tucker's academic journey includes a B.A. in Biochemistry from Harvard College, Ph.D. studies at MIT, and postdoctoral work at the Max Planck Institute of Neurobiology and the University of Heidelberg. Her work has explored DNA methylation in mouse development, fluorescent protein imaging of embryonic CNS development, and the impact of primary cilia defects on neurodevelopmental disorders.
Her current research investigates postnatal phenotypes in mice lacking primary cilia in specific neuronal populations to model human ciliopathies. Collaborations have spanned international institutions, emphasizing her global contributions to developmental biology and neuroscience.
Dr. Tucker is eligible to advise students and actively contributes to biomedical education and research initiatives at the University of New England.
