Kerli Kant Hvass is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sustainability and Planning at Aalborg University, affiliated with The Technical Faculty of IT and Design. Her work focuses on Circular Economy, Sustainable Business Innovation, and the fashion/textiles industry. She holds an Industrial PhD from Copenhagen Business School (2016) and has extensive international experience with companies, start-ups, and public-sector stakeholders.
Education includes a PhD in Circular Business Model Innovation (2011–2016), a Master’s in International Business Economics (2002–2004), and a Business Administration degree from Tallinn Technical University (1996–1999). She was a visiting scholar at San Francisco State University (2014–2015).
Research interests emphasize systemic connections between business, markets, and regulations, particularly in circular strategies for fashion/textiles. Key areas include digital technology integration, policy-making, and stakeholder engagement. Her work addresses challenges like textile waste, sustainable production, and circular design.
External roles include Member of the Climate Law Advisory Board (Ministry of Climate, 2023–present), Expert at the European Research Executive Agency (2022–present), and Founder/Consultant of Revaluate OÜ (2021–present). She has delivered keynotes and talks on circular economy topics at conferences and industry events.
Key scientific award: Industrial PhD (2016) for research on circular business models in fashion/textiles. Media engagements include discussions on Danish textile waste policies and sustainable fashion practices.
