Dr. Keren Yarhi-Milo is the dean of Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) and holds the Adlai E. Stevenson Professorship in International Relations. As the youngest SIPA dean, she bridges academia and policy through research on foreign policy decision-making, psychological biases, and international security.
- Education: PhD (University of Pennsylvania), BA summa cum laude (Columbia University)
Her work explores:
- Signaling and misperception in global politics
- Threat assessment and intelligence failures
- Secrecy, deception, and face-to-face diplomacy
- Reputation dynamics in conflict resolution
Awards include:
- 2022 ISA Emerging Scholar Award
- 2016 Furnnis and DPLST Book Prizes
She co-edits Princeton Studies in International History and Politics and co-founded the Institute of Global Politics (2023), later launching its Women’s Initiative (2024). Her books Who Fights for Reputation? and Knowing the Adversary are seminal contributions to political psychology.
