Kent Drummond is a Professor in the Department of English at the University of Wyoming. He holds a Ph.D. in Communication from the University of Texas at Austin, an MBA in Marketing from Northwestern University, and a B.A. in English from Stanford University. His research focuses on consumer culture, pop culture criticism, and the intersections of art, music (especially rock and roll), and market dynamics. He has authored The Road to Wicked and contributed to numerous journal articles and book chapters on topics ranging from Led Zeppelin to Graceland tourism.
Drummond has received multiple teaching awards, including the Susie McMurry Chair and Golden Apple Award. He has advised doctoral students in Marketing and supervised over 30 graduate theses. His administrative roles include serving as Associate Dean of the College of Business and Director of Saturday University. He is also actively engaged in professional service, including roles in the Association for Consumer Research and the Popular Culture Association.
His work bridges academic research with public engagement, featuring on PBS documentaries and delivering lectures on topics like experiential marketing and consuming art. Key themes in his scholarship include cultural sustainability, the commodification of artistic experiences, and the role of consumption in identity formation.
