Kenneth ONG

Dr. Kenneth ONG is an Assistant Professor and Director of the Centre for Professional Communication at Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT). He holds a PhD in Education (Applied Linguistics) from the University of Auckland. Previously, he served as Senior Lecturer and Assistant Chair at Nanyang Technological University's School of Humanities and Social Sciences, overseeing IT and administrative functions. His research focuses on technical/professional communication, English for Specific Purposes (ESP), codeswitching, and computer-mediated communication. He has received significant grants including the Singapore Millennium Foundation Grant (SGD671,250) and led initiatives like the 'Mobile Education Networked Tutoring on Request' project. Dr. ONG has authored over 20 journal articles in high-impact outlets such as System and World Englishes, and co-authored books published by Routledge and Springer.

Awards include the Dean’s Commendation for Research (2010, 2011) and NTU’s EdeX Grant for developing the 'Virtual Language Table' app. He sits on advisory boards for Singapore Polytechnic’s School of Life Skills and Communication and actively contributes to professional development workshops on resume writing and proposal authorship.
