Zhan Fangqiong

Dr. Zhan Fangqiong is an Assistant Professor at the National Institute of Education (NIE), an autonomous institute within Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Her research focuses on Chinese language acquisition and pedagogy, contrastive studies of English and Chinese, and diachronic construction grammar, with a particular emphasis on applying cognitive linguistics and theoretical frameworks to Chinese language teaching and learning. She contributes to understanding the evolution of Chinese languages through interdisciplinary research methodologies.

Dr. Zhan holds a Ph.D. in Chinese Linguistics from Stanford University. Her work has been published in high-level peer-reviewed journals such as Journal of Pragmatics, Lingua, and Diachronica. She is also the author of The Structure and Function of Chinese Copula Construction: A Constructional Approach and the translator of the Chinese version of Constructionalization and Constructional Changes.
