Kenneth Norrie

Prof Kenneth Norrie is a Visiting Professor of Law at the Strathclyde Law School, University of Strathclyde. He specializes in Family Law, with a focus on child protection, same-sex relationships, and legal history. His research also covers private international law, professional negligence, and defamation. He has advised on multiple Scottish family law bills and contributed to the Scottish Child Abuse Inquiry through expert reports and testimonies. Norrie holds a PhD from the University of Aberdeen (1988) and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Dundee (1981).

His teaching spans Legal Methods, Domestic Relations, and Family Law Honours, alongside overseas visiting professorships in Germany, Austria, Australia, South Africa, and New Zealand. His work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in education and reduced inequalities.

Recent publications explore historical LGBTQ+ family structures and legal definitions of parenthood, reflecting his interdisciplinary approach to family law challenges.
