Introduction
Kenneth James McKenzie is a Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Calgary, where he has held this position since 1999. He previously served as Department Head from 2007-2010 and 2014-2015. His academic journey includes a Ph.D. in Economics from Queen’s University (1990), an M.A. from the University of Calgary (1985), and a B.Comm. (Honors) from the University of Saskatchewan (1982).

McKenzie’s research focuses on public economics and taxation, with notable contributions to fiscal policy, tax reform, and resource taxation. He has received prestigious awards such as the Harry Johnson Prize (1996), the Douglas Purvis Memorial Prize (1999, 2011), and the University of Calgary’s Distinguished Research Award (2000).
