Dr. Ken Montgomery is the Dean of the Faculty of Education at the University of Windsor. His academic background includes a Doctor of Philosophy (Education) from the University of Ottawa, a Master of Arts (Education) from the same institution, and a Bachelor of Physical Education (Adolescent Studies) from the University of Calgary.
His research interests focus on antiracism, critical multicultural education, post-colonialism, and treaty education. He has published extensively on topics such as digital storytelling for treaty education, critical pedagogy, and the role of nationalism in educational materials. His work often intersects with social justice, discourse analysis, and the decolonization of educational practices.
Montgomery has received significant research funding, including a SSHRC Insight Development Grant (2011–2013) for a project on treaty education through digital storytelling. He has held editorial roles for journals like Race Ethnicity and Education and Power and Education.
As an educator, he has supervised numerous graduate students, including PhD candidates such as Audrey Aamodt and James Oloo, focusing on themes like treaty life writing and foreign certified teachers' experiences. His teaching spans courses on critical pedagogies, educational theory, and the sociology of education.
Montgomery's contributions extend to curriculum development and policy advocacy, with a commitment to addressing systemic inequities in education through research and practice.
