Ken Matsuno is a Professor of Marketing at Babson College, with over 25 years of academic leadership experience. He has held roles including Dean of Faculty, Vice President of Academic Affairs, and interim Dean of the College. He joined Babson in 1996 and has contributed significantly to curricular innovation, faculty development, and institutional strategy. His leadership during the pandemic included spearheading a faculty-led online teaching training program achieving 95% participation, and establishing Professors of Practice roles for non-tenure-track faculty. He holds a PhD from the University of Tennessee, MBA from the University of Virginia, and undergraduate degrees from the University of Oregon and Aoyama Gakuin University.
Matsuno’s research focuses on marketing strategy, organizational resilience, and entrepreneurship, with notable work on firms’ responses to external challenges like population aging and environmental shifts. He has published in top journals such as Journal of Marketing and Journal of Business Research. His recent articles emphasize compassion in post-disaster recovery and proactive marketing strategies for demographic changes. Post-dean role, he plans to revise a paper for publication, continue business school accreditation reviews, and pursue personal goals in tennis.
His academic service includes leadership on the President’s Cabinet, Academic Council, and accreditation committees. He advocates for faculty-driven innovation, emphasizing authentic communication and leveraging diverse faculty talents to advance Babson’s mission.
