Ken Lum is the Marilyn Jordan Taylor Presidential Professor and Chair of the Department of Fine Arts at the University of Pennsylvania's Stuart Weitzman School of Design. He holds a prominent role in contemporary art, curating major exhibitions like the 7th Sharjah Biennial and co-founding Yishu Journal of Contemporary Chinese Art. Lum has taught at institutions including the University of British Columbia, Bard College, and the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
His research and practice focus on public art, sculpture, and global art studies, with notable commissions in cities like Vienna, Toronto, and St. Louis. Lum’s exhibitions include Documenta 11, the Whitney Biennial, and the Gwangju Biennale. He has also contributed extensively to art criticism and co-authored an artist’s book with philosopher Hubert Damisch.
His career spans academia, curation, and public art, reflecting a commitment to interdisciplinary engagement and cultural dialogue.
