Ken Burbank serves as Professor and Head of the School of Engineering Technology at Purdue University's Polytechnic Institute. With over 20 years of experience in engineering education, he leads national initiatives to integrate engineering technology graduates into federal engineering roles through the Engineering Technology Council of ASEE and collaboration with the National Academy of Engineering.
His academic credentials include:
- BS in Electrical Engineering, Brown University
- MS in Electrical Engineering, Brown University
- PhD in Electrical Engineering, Brown University
Research focuses on thin film sensors and compound semiconductor properties, building on his decade-long industry career in analog integrated circuit manufacturing. His work bridges academic research with industrial applications in sensor technology and process development.
As past chair of ASEE's Engineering Technology Council and senior IEEE member, he champions industry-academia partnerships through SME and IEEE. Current leadership includes developing Purdue's nation-leading smart manufacturing ecosystem, highlighted by the December 2023 dedication of cross-college facilities and the November 2023 smart manufacturing event that enhances student workforce readiness.
