Kelly Werder is Associate Professor at the University of South Florida's Zimmerman School of Advertising & Mass Communications, where she has taught since 2001. She holds a Ph.D. in Mass Communications from the University of Florida and teaches public relations, strategic communication management, and research methods. As editor of the International Journal of Strategic Communication since 2012, she shapes scholarly discourse in the field.
Her research examines strategic communication processes including message strategy effects, CSR communication, crisis management, and leadership in public relations. Werder has conducted international research collaborations across Europe and developed service-learning programs connecting students with over 100 non-profit organizations.
Werder's publications demonstrate methodological rigor through experimental designs examining how organizational communication strategies influence stakeholder perceptions and behaviors. Her recent work focuses on defining strategic communication as an emerging interdisciplinary paradigm.
