Kelly S. Terry serves as Associate Dean for Experiential Learning & Clinical Programs, Professor of Law, and Director of the Public Service Externship Program and Pro Bono Opportunities at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law. She also co-directs the Institute for Law Teaching and Learning, a national organization sponsored by UA Little Rock, Washburn, and Gonzaga law schools.
Her educational background includes:
- B.A. from Hendrix College (1991)
- J.D. from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville (1994)
Dean Terry's research centers on:
- Legal Education
- Externship Pedagogy
- Assessment Methodologies
- Access to Justice Systems
- Professional Identity Formation
She co-edited Experiential Education in the Law School Curriculum (2017) and published in the Clinical Law Review, Journal of Legal Education, and Georgetown Journal on Poverty Law & Policy. Her forthcoming works address externship pedagogy, professional identity formation, and law school assessment frameworks.
Dean Terry teaches Public Service Externship and co-teaches Professionalism and the Work of Lawyers for first-year students. Her 12-year legal practice included U.S. Department of Justice trial work, Arkansas Attorney General service, and partnership at a Little Rock commercial law firm supervising business litigation.
She leads the Public Service Externship Program, Pro Bono Opportunities, and co-directs the Institute for Law Teaching and Learning focused on curriculum innovation.
