Kelly Ritter

Kelly Ritter is Professor of Architectural History at Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia. She holds an M.ARLH. in Architectural History and PhD in Constructed Environment from the University of Virginia, complemented by international teaching experience at Maryland Institute College of Art and Weifang Vocational College in China's Shandong Province.

Her research examines Chinese visual culture through interdisciplinary lenses, focusing on urban representations in 1930s Shanghai, printing technology's impact on media, and architectural heritage preservation. Recent publications analyze pictorial magazines as literacy tools and explore Republican-era social critiques through domestic imagery.

Professor Ritter has presented research globally, including conferences at Stanford University, Ashoka University (India), and multiple Urban History Association meetings. She has received numerous awards including the 2023 Opler Grant and 2014 Betty Leake Award. Professional memberships include:
