Kelly Poniatowski, PhD is an Adjunct Faculty member in the Communication & Media Arts department at Lancaster Bible College. She holds a PhD from Penn State University (2008), MA from Duquesne University, and dual BA in Public Relations/Creative Writing from University of Pittsburgh. Her career spans 15 years in higher education teaching courses like Communication Ethics and Media Studies, alongside corporate work at Mometum Inc. and consulting for the PA Department of Human Services.
Her research focuses on intersections of sports media, gender representation, and innovative pedagogy. Notable work includes analyzing NBC's framing of women's hockey in the 2010 Olympics and evaluating flipped classroom efficacy in journalism education. She has published widely in academic journals like Journal of Sports Media and International Journal of Communication.
Prior to academia, she worked in professional sports with NHL's Washington Capitals, MLB's Pittsburgh Pirates, and ECHL's Johnstown Chiefs. Her recent work emphasizes media analytics integration in curricula through athletics partnerships. She resides in Lancaster with her family who share her love for outdoor activities.
